High School Guidance Counselors

Academic advising

The relationship between high school guidance counselors and academic advisors at Grenfell Campus plays an important role in easing students transition to post-secondary studies. Hopefully, you will find the following links helpful. The list is not meant to be exhaustive, nor is it meant to substitute for more detailed questions that often arise during your meetings with future Grenfell students. We welcome your inquiries and encourage your students to contact us at anytime.

A few other things:

  • Academic Advisors will contact (via in-person, email or telephone) all new/transfer students, who have be awarded provisional or final acceptance, in the spring/summer prior to the start of the course registration peiord for the fall term to assist in course selection and program planning.  If you have not spoken to an advisor by mid-June, feel free to contact us.
  • If you take the typical course load- 30 credit hours per year, it will take four years to complete most programs.
  • Undecided about a field of study? Students may apply for general admission as an undecided student and declare or apply for a preferred program at a later date.
  • Academic advisors will help students decide which courses they should take.
  • Students write the Math Placement Test to determine which math course students for which students should register.
