ARC-NL Research and Development Grants

ARC-NL promotes aging-related research through an annual call for proposals for research and development grants .

ARC-NL has funded 12 research grants totaling approximately $118,000. ARC-NL also facilitated the Population Project and Grenfell Campus’ Office of Research and Engagement funding of two additional research projects totaling approximately $16,000.

The research supported by these grants covers a wide range of topics related to aging including brain health, post-operative pain, medication use, maltreatment, gender and multi-morbidity, and health services for vulnerable seniors. The researchers undertaking this work are from various disciplines within Memorial University’s academic community such as medicine, nursing, psychology, environmental science, pharmacy, human kinetics and biology.

ARC-NL launched the 2020-2021 call for submissions in November 2020 and introduced a development grant. These grants will be awarded in June 2021.

ARC-NL Graduate Fellowships

ARC-NL wants to foster the next generation of researchers with its ARC-NL Graduate Fellowships for master’s-level and PhD-level students at Memorial University. ARC-NL has awarded 13 student fellowships totaling $134,166. ARC-NL also facilitated the Population Project and Grenfell Campus’ Office of Research and Engagement funding of an additional student at approximately $4,000.

ARC-NL launched the 2020-21 call for applications in November 2020 for the Graduate Fellowships. For the first time, ARC-NL partnered with AGE-WELL and that will see AGE-WELL co-fund eligible ARC-NL graduate fellowships valued at $18,000 for master’s students and $24,000 for doctoral students. A national organization, AGE-WELL is working to drive innovation and create technologies and services that benefit older adults and caregivers. These grants will be awarded in June 2021.
