1) Mandatory masks required on campus

Non-medical masks are now required on campus.

2) Update for faculty requiring access to campus

Our campus continues to have restricted access, which means that anyone entering/exiting must do so through door #1 (exterior door into the A&S atrium, closet to the CEP wicket). CEP has a list of individuals whose access has been approved and they refer to this list when people arrive and ask to enter campus.

It is important that you let your dean/director know that you intend to return to campus to work from your office. It is also important that you send Rayna Luther your intended schedule (recognizing that this may change) so CEP can be aware of the days of the week/times you will be on campus.

To help manage FM work load, please place your garbage can outside your office if you wish to have it emptied.

The choice to return to campus is at the discretion of the individual faculty member. People are encouraged to continue working from home where possible, which is in line with public health recommendations for all provincial alert levels, and helps keep the number of people in our buildings low.

Decisions will continue to be made that are informed by our Guiding Principles and guidance from public health officials, including physical distancing, handwashing and working from home when possible.

3) Access to buildings

The following is a reminder of important points and a few new guidelines for accessing Grenfell Campus during our Provincial Public Health Emergency:

  • The only access that is permitted on campus is for critical activities.
  • In order to access restricted areas, individuals must have approval from their Dean or Department Head and that approval must be emailed to Connie Fudge, Manager, Campus Enforcement and Patrol, at cfudge@grenfell.mun.ca prior to the individual arriving on campus.
  • The Library Building, Fine Arts Building, Forest Centre and RecPlex Building are all locked with restricted access for critical functions only. Approved critical access will be permitted Monday to Friday from 9 a.m-2 p.m. to facilitate additional cleaning in these buildings. No access to these buildings will be permitted on weekends or holidays.
  • The Arts and Science Building will have one entry point, door #1 in the Arts and Science Extension. This building is open daily from 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. to accommodate student computer access.
  • Limit checking mailboxes to no more than one day per week.
  • All individuals coming to campus must check in at the Campus Enforcement and Patrol wicket upon arrival and when leaving.
  • Anyone who must come to campus should do so in a safe and responsible way, following public health protocol for visiting public spaces. This includes utilizing social distancing (six feet apart), hand washing and not socializing.
  • No one is permitted on campus with flu like symptoms, if they have travelled outside the province in the last 14 days or if they have been told to self isolate by a public health professional.

These conditions are in place to reduce and control foot traffic on campus and reduce the demand on custodial staff and other resources. Please help by doing your part to keep our community safe.

The Health and Safety of Grenfell Campus Faculty, Staff and Students remains our top priority.
