Recruitment and retention

Year 1

• Given the COVID environment, all courses were delivered online. This change made our courses available to more people, at different campuses and in different situations. Many of these courses will continue to be available online.
• All student-forward resources (library, learning centre, counselling and psychological services, academic advising, wellness, and student programming) moved online working to engage and support students.
• Kickstart, a series of university credit courses, was offered during the summer allowing graduating high school students the opportunity to learn about online learning while gaining university credit.
• Recruitment teams, deans, profs and our vice-president visited more than 25 high schools in this area to promote Grenfell Campus.

Year 2

• The VP Office developed a Recruitment and Retention Committee, complete with various working subcommittees representing all schools and relevant departments.
• New key positions were created and filled including associate registrar, student accessibility advisor, digital marketing advisor, innovation coordinator and graduate studies program coordinator
• The new Student Ambassador program was launched to improve campus experience, share information and create excitement about studying here. One the biggest successes of this program is the creation of the new highly- viewed TikTok account!
• Efforts were made to support students including access to academic advising, and resources for non-traditional students.
• My Grenfell Experience orientation platform provided information for new students, specific support of graduate student resources, and support for international and non-traditional students.
