There's something magical about the summer camp experience. Camp gives kids a chance to create memories and encourage self-expression.

With growing competition for summer fun in the Corner Brook area, summer activity camps are getting a facelift: our introduction of Kids University (KidsU and Kids U Jr.) highlights entertainment and education in a fun and exciting atmosphere.

Kids U gives kids the opportunity to experience learning on a university campus — an enrichment opportunity most people don't experience until high school graduation.

Each and every camp is different in style, programming and social activities. Brand new camps this summer are Forest School, Junior Vet and the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

And back by popular demand are Musical Theatre, Digital Creators and Space Explorers camps. These camps will enable kids to learn new and unique skills, develop a feeling of independence, build lasting friendships and gain experience that will shape their confidence.

Grenfell has been instilling these attributes in children for more than four decades. It was 43 years ago that Grenfell offered its first camps. Formerly known as summer activity camps, the programming consisted of sports-oriented activities with youth travelling from all over Newfoundland and Labrador to attend both day and residential programs. The popularity of these camps surpassed expectation and the need to expand offerings beyond sports became the trend.

Grenfell Campus became a hub of activity, excitement and learning, with experts from various fields overseeing camp programs, an increased number of camps being offered and more youth registering. Since the beginning in 1975, Grenfell's camps have seen almost 20,000 youth come to campus to have experiences that have helped shape their characters and their lives.

Kids U and Kids U Jr. will allow children and youth to interact with their friends face-to-face and, at the same time, learn about themselves and others.

Whether it is pretending in a world of magical creatures and wizards, creating a superhero persona, or answering the call of the wild, Grenfell's camps are places where kids make new discoveries while having fun!

Our Kids U staff look forward to seeing your kids this summer! For more information about our camps, visit kidsu.grenfell.mun.ca or call (709) 637-6208.
